What is Bio-Microneedling?
Bio-Microneedling is an advanced skin treatment that revitalises the skin by stimulating collagen, accelerates cell renewal, and resurfaces the skin, without needles, using natural freshwater spicules. Suitable for all skin types, acne, rosacea, aging, and pigmentation, with little to no downtime.
Spicules are rich in natural minerals and silica, microscopic needle like structures derived from freshwater sponges called Spongilla. They are gently massaged into the skin, which create microscopic channels, through the outer skin layer that help active ingredients absorb deeper, and more effectively, improving texture, tone, and radiance.
One Spongilla treatment delivers results equivalent to 3 micro-needling treatments and 2 chemical peels. No anaesthetic, no bleeding, no needles.
Prepping your skin:
Please avoid all active skincare ingredients with Vitamin A, AHA or BHA's, and exposure to the sun for 14 days prior to your treatment.
Day of Treatment Care:
Avoid cleansing for 12 hours after the treatment, rubbing and touching your face. Post treatment, apply New Skin Repair Gel for 3 days. You can use make-up, use clean formulations like 1Skin Fusion foundation by O'Cosmedics. Avoid the sun, saunas, spas and vigorous exercise.
Does the treatment hurt?
Spicules create a gentle, prickly sensation. It feels like a scrub when being applied - not painful, a feeling that lets you know the treatment is actively working beneath the surface of your skin. The spicules accelerates the skin renewal, cycle from 28 days to 7 days.
After your treatment you may experience, a prickly or more intense sensation, tightness, or it can feel like a light sunburn. The sensation lasts approx 48-72 hours post treatment, which the spicules will expel naturally. You may still feel the spicules 3-5 days after your treatment.
Post treatment:
You may have mild to moderate flaking or peeling 2-7 days after, for up to 7 days. Do not pick or scratch any skin off. Let your skin go through the peel phase naturally. Avoid rubbing or massaging your skin. Pat, press and blot your moisturiser in. Avoid active skincare, exfoliating, retinol, AHA'S and BHA peels and the sun for 7-10 days.
Use SPF daily after the third day. Pre and post home care is important for optimal results. Most clients notice a difference with improved radiance within a week. Texture and tone develops over several weeks, as collagen and cell renewal are stimulated.
